How we’re planning to make a big difference

These are some of the initiatives and programs we hope to implement by the end of 2020 pending funding and collaboration. Can you help in any way to make this happen?

  1. Digital natives: Upskill young people to provide digital marketing for small businesses such as updating products and photos on websites, social media, video and email newsletters.

  2. Solar boat challenge: Assist primary school students to learn to build boats with an engine powered by a solar cell. Students then race their boats. This initiative has the potential to scale to involve schools across the region and/or state.

  3. Coding club: This will promote STEAM learning, digital literacy and may avail students to a pathway into a career in technology and become a production line into local businesses.

  4. Digital network: Establish a collaborative and supportive regional network of educators delivering the digital technologies curriculum.

  5. Develop a series of digital skills workshops for local schools and work with school educators to become more comfortable using and teaching digital technology.

  6. Create a digital tech careers festival.

  7. Create a tech experience hub featuring Virtual Reality (VR), blockchain, coding, drones etc. VR is increasingly used in sectors including health, education and training. Adding these facilities to Mallee Rising will enable the community to engage this emerging technology.
