Mallee Rising’s key objectives are to:

  1. Drive new and innovative business creation;

  2. Position the Mallee as a regional innovation hub that promotes lifelong STEAM learning;

  3. Inspire young people to stay or return to the region; and

  4. Attract professionals and businesses to the region.

Here are some of our existing and planned programs that will enable us to achieve our objectives:

Y Commerce

A program connecting young “digital natives” with time poor, digitally ill-equipped local businesses (and community groups / sporting clubs) to drive digital transformation through the provision of digital business and marketing services.

Mallee X Entrepreneurship program

Develop and deliver “shark tank” style entrepreneurship programs for people of all ages (primary & secondary students, adults) to demystify the process of starting a business or startup company - in a fun kind of way - and motivate more people to consider to one day “be your own boss”.

‘Code the Mallee’ code club

Code the Mallee (code club) will meet weekly and bring people of all ages together to learn computer science and programming languages.

The club aims to increase digital literacy in the community and provide people with the skills for the jobs of the future. It will also create a local pathway into technology sector careers and serve as a pipeline of home-grown tech talent to support the growth of local industry.

Talk with a mentor

Thinking about starting a new business? Or have you opened a business in the past couple of years and need some guidance? If so, we're here to guide you.

We want to help local businesses get off to the best possible start and become long term success stories. Come and discuss how to plan and grow a successful business.

Our format is very flexible: if you want to discuss your business plan, you can, or if you want to focus on a particular topic or pain point, then that's fine too.
